Asmin Fransiska is a permanent lecturer and a senior researcher at the Faculty of Law, Catholic University of Indonesia, Atma Jaya, who has joined since 2005 She graduated with a Bachelor of Law (S.H) in 1998 from Unika Parahyangan, Bandung – Indonesia, and obtained a Master of Law (LL.M with Honors) in the field of International Human Rights Law from the Faculty of Law, Northwestern University. Chicago – United States in 2004. In 2016, Asmin earned a Doctor of Laws (Dr.iur) from Justus Liebig Giessen University, Germany with the title of Dissertation Publication ‘Decriminalisation Approach to Drug Use from a Human Rights Perspective: The Counter War On Drugs in Indonesia’.
Asmin has been awarded by several reputable institutions. In 2003, She received a Fulbright Scholarship for an LL.M in the Human Rights Program at Northwestern University Law School and after she finished the LL.M. Program, she got an award from Northwestern University as a Member of the Class of 2004 Earn Honors (Master of Law with Honors) from the Law School. Following graduation, Asmin received a Fulbright-UN Fellow at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) – in Geneva, Switzerland in 2004. After several years of being a lecturer of the Law Faculty at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, Asmin joined the Doctoral program at Justus Liebig University of Giessen, Germany, Law School. She got an award from KAAD in 2013. During her Doctoral program, she gained 10 Best Young Scholars, the International Society for the Study in 2025. In 2018, She was awarded to join the Asia Leadership Fellow Program (ALFP), funded by the Japan Foundation.
Aside from Academic experiences, Asmin Fransiska has been working together with Civil Society Groups, academics, and organizations under the United Nations (UN) for more than 25 years in advocating for several human rights issues in Indonesia. Her research and advocacy topics include Human Rights, Narcotics Policy, Policy and Law on the Protection of Women and Children, and people with disabilities. Asmin has produced various writings both in national and international journals, books, and mass media on topics such as human rights, narcotics policy, marginalization, and racism.
