Overview
Maritime disputes frequently arise from the interpretation and performance of charterparties and bills of lading, often involving complex issues relating to delay, cargo claims, risk allocation, and contractual obligations.
For professionals operating within the shipping, trade, logistics, and maritime sectors, a practical understanding of how these disputes develop — and how they are resolved — is essential for managing commercial risk and protecting business interests.
The BIAMC Masterclass on Resolving Commercial Disputes under Charterparties and Bills of Lading is a two-day online programme designed to provide participants with practical insight into the legal and commercial issues commonly encountered in maritime disputes.
Led by a leading maritime law practitioner, the programme will explore key areas including:
• Voyage Charters: Laytime and Delay Risk
• Time Charters: Off-Hire and Performance Risk
• Charterparty Risk Chain: The Interaction Between Voyage and Time Charters
• Bills of Lading: Cargo Loss, Damage, and Hague-Visby Rules
• Contract Interpretation in Shipping and Trade Disputes
• Practical Approaches to Resolving Maritime Commercial Disputes
Through real-world perspectives and practical analysis, participants will gain a stronger understanding of contractual risk, dispute management, and dispute resolution strategies within the maritime industry.
